Read what people are saying about their Quick mowers
Note from Gary: Thanks a bunch to all the folks who've taken the time to share their Quick mower experience. We have the best Owner group in the World and y'all's support is very much appreciated!
Sometimes, these testimonials are just amazing! Read this unedited, unsolicited letter from this morning's in-box:
I've been running my Quick 36 for five seasons now and I want to tell everybody what a great product these guys have. Tough as nails, built like a tank, easy to work on and it goes thru the thick stuff like a bush hog. What more could you want in a mower? Before you go down to your local big box store and plunk down your hard earned cash check these guys out. My only complaint is the battery is kind of hard to remove and service, other than that just do yourself a favor and buy one. Faster than a rider and gets into tight spots like under low hanging limbs WAAAAY easier. Oh and invest in the Gator Blades and mulch kit, you'll be glad you did.
Thanks again Better for a great mower. If I ever need to replace mine, which I seriously doubt, I know where to go.
Al B.- Burlington, New Jersey
I just wanted to write and tell you that your Dually controls have me spoiled rotten. Best I've ever used. I want them on everything. Have you guys considered making a walk-behind aerator with these controls? It would revolutionize the business.
Thanks for a great product.
Samuel J.- Newport News, Virginia
Just wanted to send a huge "thank you" to everyone at Better for your great product and top notch customer service. My quick is about 4 years old and with light commercial use it has performed flawlessly for 3-4 years.
The start of this season has had a few wear items break unexpectedly. I have gotten the parts I needed fast and haven't fallen behind. If only the non believers would give Better a chance I feel they would be greatly surprised with everything Better has to offer from start to finish.
Keep up the good work and I wish you all a great 2010!
Travis W.- Newport News, Virginia
My Dually arrived yesterday in perfect condition. I figured out the simple setup and adjustment needs and it works great.
It took me only 35 minutes to mow my lawn instead of the prior 85 minutes it took with my 21” Honda. The mulching was very decent. I can’t believe I waited so long to get one of these beauties.
Thanks for offering such a nice piece of equipment!
Joel W.- New Berlin, Wisconsin
Been using the mower for a month now and just love it. Wanted to let you know it is a great machine. The engine has so much power even compared to my dad's riding mower. Also I love how long a tank of gas lasts. I can do all my Saturday mowing and not have to worry about taking extra gas. He used it a week or so ago to mow his yard as I keep it in his storage shed when not in use and was amazed with how easy it is to use and work on. We changed the oil early per the manual because it was used and did not know the exact hours of the machine.
Thanks for building a quality product.
Lyon H.- Greensboro, North Carolina
I've had the machine for about 2 years now and my employees love the machine. That's as good endorsement for me to buy another when that time comes.
Stephen S.- Quality Landscapes, Port Hadlock, WA
I just want to tell you that I LOVE my new Quickie 32 Ninja. This machine is awesome and cuts like an animal. I do 20+ yards a day in Tampa, FL cutting thick St. Augustine turf. I have the mulch kit with the gator blades and it even cuts the wet thick grass without any problems. I cut with the deck as high as it will go, 4”. It would be nice if the deck would go to 4.5” for some of my lawns. I use it mostly on tight small back yards or very wet side yards and it works great. I can get this machine anywhere or put it anywhere I want. It is a workout on the hands until you get used to the single hyrdo. This machine is everything your website says it is and more. What made me buy your product was the compact size and price. I was going to buy the E#&+$k 32 hydro for $5,000 but it was too big to fit on my fully loaded trailer. I can’t say enough about it. I love it and I look forward to using it everyday. My guys didn’t like it at first, but after a couple weeks on it they now love it as well.
Thank you for your great service and a fantastic product at a great price. If you ever need a sales rep in Florida let me know. To be honsest with you... I am keeping this tool a secret because I don’t want any of my competitiors to know about it... that’s how good it is and how impressed I am with it!!!!
Denis P.- Citrus Park Lawn Care, Tampa, FL
Received my ordered parts. I have dealt with at least 5 mower companies over the years and when I have ordered parts, none has ever been received with the speed of Better.
The personal touch of your company is unheard of now a days. keep up the good work.
Raymond T.- Oneida, TN
Received my Quick 36 Super-Duty on 6/9/08 at 7:30 AM. By 8:00 AM
it was ready for mowing. My son-in-law got one last Fall and I didn't get to check it out until one week before I ordered mine.
I had a 5 speed 33" on order. But when I seen his and was a Hydrostatic, that is what I wanted. So, I canceled the order. One dealer said the 5 speed wouldn't be good on hills, you need a Hydrostatic, but did not know of one in a small machine.
Well, I am well pleased with the performance of this machine. It is very good on hills. You get in tight quarters, you can slow it right down and back out without shifting a gear. It's all what you say it is. Keep up the good work.
Paul Z.- Florence, Ma
What a machine. I had knee replacement this year and was worried about handling such a large mower. Was I surprised! It was easier than my 22 inch mower and mulched the grass to nothing.
No more clumps of grass all over.
I'd recommend it anytime!!!!!
Gary P.- Westerville, OH
I just wanted to let you know how much I like the Samurai (I'm glad Tommy talked me into electric start).
Two reasons I bought this mower is it fits in my 12 ft enclosed trailer along with my rider, two push mowers and other equipment. The other reason is all the good feedback I read on your site and videos and comparing to all other brands advertising on line.
The delivery was great-no hassle pick-up in Windsor, Ontario Canada. Unpacked it and filled with gas-good to go. It fits through all the gates I cut except for two. It cuts a couple of hours off my day as I cut 12 to 15 lawns a day. My only concern was the chute- I need it off often during my day to fit through gates so I bought two 3/8 inch spring pins. This allows me to remove and replace the chute in seconds. Also I use the bagger for six of my clients and its heavy but does a fantastic job. I used the Quick 36 for almost a month and I have had so many clients comment on how nice their lawn looks-I just point at the Samurai. Another great thing is with the enclosed trailer I just tip the machine back on its handles on the ramp and its very easy to clean the grass out from underneath as in Canada its been a damp cool Spring. Thanks for a great machine.
Terry R.- Windsor, Ontario Canada
I just used my mower for the 2nd time last night. The first time I used the grass catcher and this 2nd time I used the mulching kit. At this point, I thought I’d give you a quick email recap of my thoughts of the mower.
1) My first impression upon delivery was WOW. The presentation and the way it was packed for shipment was excellent. Touching it for the 1st time, I could just tell it was a quality machine. It makes you feel good that Made in the USA can still stand for something.
2) The performance of the machine is fantastic. It gives a beautiful cut both mulching and with the catcher. I had my neighbor, with whom I’m in constant competition with for the best lawn, come over and concede that it was the best cut he’s seen. It is also so easy to handle. The drive system is incredibly smooth and I love the position of the reverse control. So easy to maneuver.
I want to thank you again for all of your help. If you ever would like to use me as a reference to another potential buyer, feel free to do so.
The only critique that I do have is that you only give out one free T Shirt. You need to give two so that one is always available on mowing day if the other one hasn’t been washed yet!
Bill S.-North Attleboro, MA
A note from one of our Owners regarding a recent parts order:
Thanks. You guys are the greatest. That was quick. Last year I had a problem with my battery and I think you got it to me the next day. I love doing business with you!
Sioux B.-Organic Green
Received Samurai 36 today. Simple to assemble. The order was exactly as ordered.
Several of my landscaping buddies in the neighborhood who've spent much more for 600 lb. mowers were very impressed. They all had to demo the unit. I was impressed at how impressed they were with the equipment. I have a feeling you'll be getting some new customers. They really like the performance and ease of operation. They said "this is one great engineered product".
Thank you again.
Robin S.- Brandon, MS
Just wanted to send an email to say that my Quick36 Samurai arrived yesterday.
Thanks to you and your crew for getting my mower setup, packed and shipped so quickly. I ordered it on Sunday afternoon (minutes after my trusty old 21" died) and the Q36 arrived Wednesday morning. The only thing more impressive than the delivery speed is the design and build quality of the mower itself.
thanks again for such a quality product.
Then, a few days later;
I actually cut the lawn this weekend for the first time, despite it being incredibly wet and soggy (thanks to constant rain for the last 4-5 days. I used gator blades on the mower because up here in the northeast we've got leaves falling.
I'm sure you get photos all the time but here is a photo of my lawn mulched/cut while it was raining. (Mario's picture is in the Family Photos Section) Wow. I wanted to try out the mower in worst case conditions to see what it could do. I can't believe how nice it looks, and the 16hp Kawasaki didnt strain at all. I can't wait to try it out with the standard high lift blades in the spring. Even my wife noted how much nicer the grass looks. And like you said, now i get to spend more time with her instead of mowing, which she loves.
My neighbors are now officially jealous of my lawn. Thanks for designing and building a fantastic machine at a great price!
If you ever need to use me as a reference for would-be buyers near me, please feel free to contact me.
Mario V.- Binghamton, NY
I want to let you know that I love the Quick 36. I sure got a lot of mower for a small price. I will be ordering a Quick 44 next year from you because you have a great product and outstanding customer service.
Thanks,
George K.- Sulphur, LA
Best walk behind mower I ever had.
Gary S.- Oakbrook Terrace, IL
If you get any prospective customers in the Cleveland OH area who would like a hands on demo w/o driving to NC, I would love to show off my new mower!! Feel free to forward me their contact info and I would set something up with them.
After reviewing your website and customer comments my expectations were very high but I am thrilled with my new mower!! Unbelievable handling which was my main concern and the quality of cut is fantastic as well.
Bill F.-Solon, OH
I've used the Quick 44 for 3 months now, and just want to say that it has exceeded my expectations. I am completely satisfied and recommend your brand to anyone I know that wants a "real" mower.
Peter G.-Haverhill, MA
Mowing "life" just keeps getting better and better with my (44) Samurai purchased this spring. Getting more and more comfortable with sulky. Mowing better, faster and more ground each use.
WOW! I may really get to do something else on Saturday's. Great machine! Very satisfied customer.
Vernon-Fort Ashby, WV
An email sent by one of our customers to an inquiry about the Quick 36
I got an email from Better Outdoor Products that indicated that you inquired about their Quick 36 mower. I purchased the Super Fox model last fall. I use it for mowing at my home only (I'm not a landscape contractor). Since I bought it in the Fall I've used it only about six or seven times. However, I can tell you that it is a quality piece of equipment. I was previously using a 48" Ex#*@& Me%*@. In comparison I'd say that the quality of the cut is equal to the Ex#*@& , the Q36 is much easier to maneuver (turns easier and faster) and I can finish my lawn in the same amount of time as with the Ex#*@& even though the cut is 12" less. I can't wait for the grass to start growing so I can get the mower out.
I looked at a lot of mowers before I bought my Q-36. For the money I doubt you can find a better mower.
Mike L.-Oley, PA
This is a first time deal for me. I love you guys from the sales point to the sell. I wish everybody could learn what true customer service is, including the pre and post sales care.
Randy W.-The Lawn Pirates, LLC-Longwood, FL
I am very pleased with this mower. I operate a small mowing business and also use this mower for my own yard, which is fairly large.
When using my Samurai this summer, others operating mowing businesses have seen it (I have not seen another one in town yet) and have asked me about it. I have let a few mow a little with it. They like the way it handled and the finish cut. They were especially impressed when I told them the price. Most have T@^@ walk behind mowers and could not believe what I got for my money. They are also impressed that I am able to get my Samurai, a zero turn rider and a small trim mower on my single axle 12' trailer. I have given your website to several of them and would not be surprised to see more of these mowers in town when their mowers need to be replaced.
Congratulations on a great product.
Brett B.-Bloomington, IL
I am writing you to tell you how pleased I am with my new mower. EVERYTHING about your company is 1st class, from ordering the mower (what nice folks working the phones) all the way to operating it! I uncrated the mower, read the easy instructions attached to it, filled it with gas and was off and mowing. With my old 22" mower it would take me 2 hours... with the Quick 36 it took me 50 minutes... and I cross cut the back!!!! I changed the deck height and also put the gator blades on it after the first cut... that took all of one hour. Thanks for having such an awesome product!!! I've told everyone I know about it...
Chris L.-Pickerington, OH
Earlier this year, I ordered and received a new Samurai and had intended to write to extend my appreciation for such a wonderful piece of equipment. I am 61 yrs. old and have not cut my own grass for over 25 years. After losing patience with my lawn service provider, I bought one of your mowers and, much to my neighbors surprise, I am smiling with every mowing event. Thanks much for the well engineered and ergonomically superior mower. I love it.
Russ G.-Brookville, OH
The Quick 36 Super Duty is doing a great job keeping our large (almost an acre) lawn looking nice. It is a quality machine with a good smooth cut. The 16 HP Briggs cruises right through tall damp grass without bogging down and the mulch kit with the gator blades
works very well. The electric start is a nice feature too. The headlight kit will help finish off the mowing later in the day with the earlier sunsets in late summer and fall. The machine fits nicely in the garage when not in use and does not take up too much space. I can tell some thought went into designing this machine. I do use hearing protectors (with a built-in FM radio) while I mow because the cutting deck really howls at full throttle!
Mark G.-Somers, CT
I purchased my mower near the end of the 2005 mowing season and have been using it frequently this year. I can agree with all those commendable statements in the Grapevine. This mower is awesome and is one of the best built products on the market and I have used and studied many. There is always a risk purchasing a product unseen however this mower will please even the most critical buyer - I guarantee it.
John S.- Pearland, TX
Got the mower from RL Carriers. Put her together (a Super Duty) and after 5 minutes or so of driving around to get use to it, I started cutting. Awesome machine! My lawn normally takes 45 to 50 minutes to mow with my 42" cut S%@##s mower. I did not time it, but I know I unloaded the mower starting at 6 p.m. That crate took at least 15 minutes to break down. I assembled the mower and was done cutting at 7:15. I guesstimate it took 30 to 35 minutes to mow! Really heavy duty construction. Can't wait to use it at my customers lawns and see the cut and time savings.
Thanks,

(NEWS FLASH!)
After months of research, the U.S. Navy has selected Better Outdoor Products' Quick 36 Super-Duty mowers to maintain the grounds at Camp David. (I was kinda surprised to hear that the Navy was responsible for maintenance of the President's weekend place, but hey, ya learn something every day!) Regardless of what you may think of President George Bush, the man will be remembered in the annals of history as having outstanding taste in lawnmowers!!! (It's also great to finally see our Government shopping for the best value!

(Samurai)Arrived today. Took a while to uncrate-which was good because it was packed real well. Fired it up and off I went. Just as advertised. I found this machine when it was recently featured on the front of Turf Magazine. I had been in the market for another of the big name professional mowers but needed a smaller version for small lawns & tight spots. Your machine fit the niche I was looking to fill.

This Super-Duty is awesome!!! Kudos to you and your team! I can not wait until you guys and gals make a bigger better version, I will be one of the first customers to purchase. Again, thank you so much...you have truly made my jobs easier and more fun....Keep up the Super-Duty quality.

I recently purchased a Quick 36 Super Fox, and I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with both the mower and the customer service. After ordering the mower, there was a mix-up regarding my tracking number. I sent an inquiry via e-mail, and Laura (I hope that's the right name!) promptly contacted me by phone with the solution to the problem. Earlier this week, I received the mower. The instruction set was clear and easy to follow, which made set-up a breeze. Having never used a commercial-grade walk behind mower before, I was somewhat concerned about ease of use. However, after a few minutes in the yard with the mower, I found the operation to be intuitive and straight forward. Nicely done! I look forward to many years of service from my Super Fox!

I just want to tell you that my husband is totally in love with the mower. It made his life easier and work more pleasant. I still cannot believe how much we got for so little money. We are also planning to expand next season and will be getting another one of your great mowers.
Thank you very much for a great product.
Irina H. -Bellevue, Washington
Well, you said that you wanted feedback, whether positve or negative, so remember, you asked for this. I live in Southern Ohio, in the foothills of the Appalachians. Flatlanders call them mountains, but to us they're hills. Our property is on the side of one of those hills and is bowl shaped. In other words, turn four at Daytona would be flat in comparison. I've used one of those "Green riding mowers" and while it was able to cut it, it also provided more than a couple "Yahoo" rides down the side, if the grass was a little damp. I always figured that the house would stop me, before I got to the road, but the wife worried everytime I mowed. The possibilty of flipping the mower was very real also. Because of the steep sides, I had to go at a slow speed and, it would take 2 1/2-3 hours to mow. My wife kept "encouraging" me to get a walk behind, but the prices stopped me. The idea of paying $6-8000 for a mower didn't thrill me. I knew enough about them to know that I wanted a hydrostatic drive, pressurized fuel delivery, and at least 15hp.
Enter the Super Duty.
A week after making a road trip to NC to pick it up and spending the afternoon BSing with you guys, it was time to try it. This puppy hit the hill and went though the grass like Rosie O'Donnel at a free dessert bar. It not only went up and down the hills with no effort, it also went side to side. You gotta remember I said bowl shaped hills with some of the angles approaching 50 degrees or better. Mowing time was cut to 1 1/2 hours. If that wasn't impressive enough. We had just purchased some adjacent land that hadn't seen a mower in over ten years. Tall grass, vines, and underbrush were the order of the day. I had considered getting someone with a bush hog to clear it. Just for grins and giggles, I decided to try the Super Duty on it. It had absolutely no problems. It was spitting vines and underbrush out the side like it was nothing.
Now for the suggestions, a snowblade or snow blower attachment would be nice. That way I could just sell the "Green mower", and only have the Super Duty. It has more than enough power, and with a set of chains, it should handle at least a three or four foot blade or snow blower. Those of us who live where it snows, would really appreciate it.
Fred S.-Proctorville, Ohio
Got my SuperDuty this morning and it was all you advertised it as and more. Sturdily built, perfectly finished, and fired up first try. As others have said, the hardest part was unpacking the machine from the crate. The quality of the cut was fantastic, the machine didn't bog down even in my jungle (my H*%#a 3813 Tractor's Deck Split 2 weeks ago and my yard was 6 - 8 inches in places). Easy to handle and I got some exercise at the same time. It took only a few minutes to figure out how to comfortably control the machine and after that I was off and cutting.
Thanks for a great product. I am glad I took a chance. Feel free to have others contact me about the machine.
Yet another satisified customer ...

I received my Quick 36 Super Duty after a five week wait and am thoroughly pleased!. I have owned and/or operated Sc**s, Gr%%#&^*pers, Y&@#os, Ex%@$&s, and others. Let me tell you that the Quick 36 is a different, 'Better' approach to lawn mower design than anything I've owned or operated. The lighter build is not simply done by just using lighter weight material. After getting a look at it 'in person' so-to-speak, it is clear to see that it is 'engineered' lighter-better. Fit and finish, strength of construction, operability and quality of cut, make it better in my opinion, than other 36 inchers. 'Ground pressure' of a 300 pound mower vs a 500 pounder definitely leaves less rutting, especially if you need to get in some soft lawns. 16 hp on 3 blades at 17000 fpm tip speed in the baffled-swept-tunnel deck with Gator blades and the engineered mulching closure, result in 'atomized' clippings and a razor smooth lawn! The Quick 36s are not just lighter weight clones of all the other mowers out there; it is truly a revolutionary, 'Better' design! Gary and Laura were friendly, patient with my pestering and delivered an exceptional product! On top of that, Roadway delivery folks were also prompt and courteous!
Thanks a lot Better!
Frank F.-Baton Rouge, Louisiana
I just wanted to take a couple of minutes this morning, after I got to work, to let you know that my new mower arrived yesterday and was pressed into immediate action. The long and the short of it is --it was well worth the wait and better than I expected. I had a neighbor walk past my house a half hour after I finished cutting the lawn last night and he said he couldn't believe how good my lawn looks.
So you really do ship these things in such a way that there is no chance for damage. I mean, the plastic wrap, bubble wrap, the pallet with wheel blocks, tie downs that are hard to cut even with wire cutters. It took me longer to get it out of the box then it did to cut my lawn!
After uncrating and getting the handles in place and the battery connected, I started the mower up and it fired right up with one turn of the key. I wanted to attach the grass catcher and it took some time to figure out how to unbolt the mulch plate. I had to enlist the help of my wife to tip the mower up so I could get a wrench on the inside lock nut (Is this normal??) and loosen from the outside with a ratchet. The grass catcher is much heavier than I thought and looks like I will get many years of cutting without fear of replacing it.
Now let's talk bout the operation of the unit. I should preface this by saying I have never used a commercial cut mower before, so other than a quick study of the owner's manual, I was going to go about this as "baptism by fire". The control panel, has all of the necessary information to effectively operate the mower safely right before your eyes. I was surprised at just how easy it was to control the mover, even in tight spaces. In the end, I reduced my mowing time by almost half, and I'm sure I'll cut even faster as I get more confidence in handling the mower on hills and around fences and garden beds.
The most important aspect of the mower was the quality of the cut. When you said it rivals the finish of a 21'' mower you're selling yourself short - it does an even better job then my old Cra#####n ever did with a brand new blade on it.
By the way - thanks for the t-shirt. You should think about putting it out in green - it will hide the dirt and sweat better!!!!
Ed B.-Kennett Square, Pennsylvania
I would like to thank you for creating such an exceptional product.
I purchased my Quick 36 back in April (2005), after much research on mowers. This Spring I came to need a high quality/low down time mower as I need to cut four residential properties. I came across your website and was sold. I told a co-worker about my purchase, as I awaited its arrival, and he was amazed that I would make a large purchase, for an item that I would depend on a great deal, sight unseen. My response at the time was, "if it is half as good as they claim on their website, it will be perfect for my needs."
After uncrating the mower, I knew immediately I made the right decision buying the (Quick)36.
Now after almost four months, I can say, without any hesitation, THIS IS ONE AWESOME MOWER! It is big enough to get the job done and small enough to get thru residential gates and navigate tight spaces. The hydro drive is a DREAM! It has cut my mowing time in half. If you have any prospective buyers near me that are like my co-worker, and need to see or test drive one, please have them email me. I am "sold" and would happily share my perfect buying experience with them. The (Quick)36 and your staff are second to none. Thank you for building a GREAT mower!
Andy L.-Dayton, Ohio
I have been meaning to get back to you about the new mower.
When I first mowed with it, I thought I had made a mistake, I was really beat, but each time it gets easier. I have learned a bunch of tricks to make handling the mower easier for me. The last time I mowed (two days ago) I finished the lawn (one acre) with no sweat! It has cut the mowing time in half.
Hints:
- Do not use all the fingers on your right hand to control the speed. If you use all your fingers on the speed control, you end up doing most of the steering with your left arm - very tiring. Grip the right grip with thumb and last two fingers, and use your index and middle fingers for the speed control. This lets you steer better, and makes speed control MUCH better, and since two fingers are under the control lever you are less likely to grab too much forward motion from a stop, and you do not need the fastest speed anyway.
- The mower will turn in its own length (one rear wheel forward, one rear wheel backward) ONLY when the speed control is released. This is not what you want most of the time. If you are turning around, you want a VERY SMALL amount of forward speed, this lets one wheel stop, and powers the other wheel around - just like power steering! This makes turning very easy. You have to remember that my yard is hilly, and I do not turn around on flat ground much.
- The mower actually handles side hills quite well, but when the hills get steeper, it is better and easier to go up & down.
- Since the mower is short, you have to be careful when going up steep hills - Hint: keep the handle bars lower then you think you want them. When you are climbing hills, let the mower pull you up by leaning back and pulling up on the handles a bit - this lets the mower do the work of pulling you up the hill, and by pulling up on the handles it ensures the front of the mower stays on the ground.
The (Briggs 16HP) ELS engine is EXCELLENT! I was disconcerted by the initial oil change, since I have never seen such yellow oil, but I assume this was the break-in oil. (Editor's note: Briggs checks for leaks on each engine with phosphorescent oil and a black light) I changed the oil filter at the same time (2.2 hrs) and now have synthetic oil in the mower. This engine seems much better than the Kawasaki engine in my John Deere; it starts faster and runs smoother. For such a big engine, it seems very frugal with gas!
The Super Duty does not even notice long grass or steep hills! I am very glad I got this model for my hilly yard!
The cut quality is the best I have ever seen!!!!! It is amazing, I did not think I would ever own a mower that would make the grass look this good! To me, a really good indication of the quality of the cut is the way the mower ATOMIZES dandelions that I have dug out of the lawn. The old mower would just throw them more-or-less intact.
The build quality is very good on this mower, just look at how the welded parts fit - there is no gap filling, and the weld beads are even with good penetration. The pulleys line up with no belt offset-a good indication of well designed assembly jigs & accurately cut/machined parts.
My only complaint is the noise level of the blades/drive. I need to find a better set of hearing protectors!
Basically I love the mower. I would certainly recommend this mower to anyone. The only problem is I want to mow the grass too often, because it is such a great mower to use.
John O., Hamilton, ON
Just thought I'd let you know, I couldn't be happier with my new Super Duty! I have about 38 hours on it now, and it performs wonderfully. It's built with quality, gives a great cut, and leaves a great stripe too. I have even had several of my customers comment on how nice it cuts. I now find myself using it in areas where I used my 44" T### Z last season, because it looks so nice. I can honestly say that, if you made a larger unit, or even a rider, I would most certainly purchase one.

Well after receiving the Quick 36 "SuperDuty" and using it several times, here's my impression of the mower. I'm not an authority on mowers or a previous owner of a hydro, single or double, so this is from someone that's giving it to you in layman's terms.
Delivery: The delivery was really fast even though Gary had a number of these to ship out to others. The packing was great. The mower is tied down to a pallet securely without the possibility of this thing even budging. All the components are covered with plastic so nothing gets scratched.
Assembly: The assembly was a breeze. The handle bars have to be mounted to the frame with four bolts which is easy for even an idiot. It has two different places or should I say heights you can mount the handle bars to, high or low. The engine is already filled with oil, so all you need is just gas. The negative grounding cable comes disconnected so you have to connect it to the left side of the engine frame mount. They include a nut with a star washer connected to fasten the battery cable to the engine but I didn't like the nut with the star washer because whenever you try to tighten the nut the cable wants to move with it, no matter how hard you try to hold the cable from moving. I used a locking nut instead which worked a lot better and the cable doesn't try to move as much. One other thing about the negative cable...there is also a small green grounding wire that mounts with the battery cable and I found this to be pretty tight when trying to move it to the bolt they want you to hook it to...by moving the wiring harness a little closer you have more room. One thing I did notice was when you moved the green ground wire with the harness, it brings it up against the solenoid where the wire could possibly vibrate against and wear into the wire. I just cable tied it to the ground cable closest to the battery and then it was all clear.
Deck Adjustment: The deck adjustment is fairly simple. On the front wheels are half inch spacers which you use to lower or raise the front of the deck, from 1" to 4". The rear of the deck is adjusted by loosening two nuts, one on the right and one on the left, then it's a matter of lining it up with a decal that's on the side of the deck indicating how many spacers you used on the front. I found it relatively easy to adjust. One suggestion is that they should mark the deck with engravings of the numbers instead of a decal. Eventually that decal is coming off due to being torn or just wearing out. If the decal is gone you don't have a reference point for the rear of the deck to go by. I am going to remove both back wheels and mark the numbers with a center punch so they will always be there even if the decal comes off.
Overall Appearance: The mower is exceptionally well made and put together. When they called it "SuperDuty" then meant just that. This thing is solid. The layout of all the controls are very easy to get to, everything is right there in front of you. The SuperDuties come with an hour gauge which is easy to read and is mounted below the throttle control. I went from front to back checking to make sure everything was tight and there wasn't a nut or bolt loose anywhere...good quality control!
Other Adjustments: Checking the air in the rear tires was easy, the front's...well that's another story. I couldn't get the tire gauge on the front tires without removing them...sure hope they don't go down too often. To remove the cover over the spindles is easy but on the SuperDuty you have to remove one of the new struts they added to the front deck to get it off...it's still easy because the struts are held on by the same type of giant rubber wing nuts that hold on the cover.
Starting: After fueling, I choked the throttle and turned the key and BAM! it fired up instantly, no cranking or long turns of the key...it just fired so fast, it almost scared me...LOL!!!! After it started it ran very smooth and idled great. The fuel shutoff is located underneath the rear of the gas tank which is easy but troublesome to hunt for. I wish they would have used a different shutoff for the gas...just seems it could have been a little more to grab a hold of instead of what they are using. Works great but just a hair troublesome...maybe a shutoff like a motorcycle gas tank.
Moving: There is a lever in the back rear of the mower that you slide to either move by hand or to use the hydro. With the brake off and the lever set to move by hand...it moves around really easy. When you have it set to use the hydro, this mower is actually easier to turn than my 21" S#####r even though it's a single hydro. After reading all the post about people wondering how this single hydro turns?...TURNS VERY EASY!! If it turns this easy, I'd bet I'd probably get thrown and run over with a dual hydro..LOL!! Really though, it's as easy as turning a normal mower.
Cutting: When I first got the machine I hadn't received my mulch plate yet so I was just using the chute to discharge. With the new 16hp engine, this thing slings grass two streets over...man what a beast! It cut the grass (St. Augustine) like it had been manicure by a barber...hell I thought my 21" S#####r did a great job, this thing rules now. No scalping or any other troublesome matters with this non-floating deck. I know the 36" isn't as bad as the bigger ones but I didn't encounter any with this at all. Easily moved around the yard cutting, backing up, and turning. I love it! Well the mulch plate came in today and I already installed it and went cutting again. With that mulch plate in place it's hard to see if you've even cut any grass until you look back where you just came from and the grass is shorter. Man it must chew the grass up pretty fine to not even see any remnants. Anyway...the mulch plate seems to work really well...better then bagging!
Additions: I also got the service pack when I ordered the mower. It comes with a replacement spindle, two pulleys, two deck springs, and replacement belts...just in case one day something may happen, I'm ready to continue on. I also ordered the sulky but it wont be in until tomorrow and that's when I go back for 24hr at the FD...guess I wont be able to play with that until Thursday. I'll keep you posted as to how that works too.
Well guys and girls hope you're still awake after reading this but I wanted to give my opinion on my new mower. Some will criticize as usual but hopefully for those that are looking to get the new "SuperDuty" they will have a little insight. Either way...I LOVE IT! and that's all that matters to me!

Last Fall, a really nice thing happened to us. The phone rang and it was the Turf and Irrigation Manager for Clemson University in South Carolina. They had discovered the Quick 36 mower somewhere on the web and invited us to demonstrate it for use on their Campus. We arrived to find they were mowing with big machines (60-72" Z's & Out-Fronts) on their open areas and 21" push-mowers on islands and in "tight" spots. If you've never been to Clemson, it is a huge and beautiful campus of several hundred acres with a "zillion tight spots". The labor involved in maintaining all of these smaller and scattered areas with push-mowers was a real problem.
We spent about two hours with several folks going over all the details of the Quick 36. Their two top mechanics "smoked it over" and gave it the nod. Their operators took it to two locations, mowing up and down a steep hillside and into a terraced amphitheatre (which we finished in a fraction of the time required for push-mowers). Their managers looked at it and we discussed the value and ease of use of our mower relative to other machines on the market. It didn't take long to figure out they were going to save time and money using a "better" machine. To make a long story short...
Clemson is now using Quick 36!
These are smart folks who can use whatever brand of machine they want. They chose Better Outdoor Products.

Better Quick 36...WORTH IT???
I see the better quick 36 at top (Better is a banner advertiser on LSF) for only 2000 dollars, is it really worth it? What are the good and bad things we get if we purchase it? Would you recommend it to someone else?
one of our Owners responds to the question:
There has been a lot of information posted about it already. Do a search and you will have plenty of info.
I bought mine about June of last year. It has done everything I have asked and more. I cut mainly small yards and never use my 21" mower anymore. The Briggs motor seems to be doing just fine. Single hydro works flawlessly and is still easy to turn. Cuts great at any height. Keep the oil and air filter changed and you are good to go. What you may not realize is the compactness of the unit. It is very short compared to others. I'll be glad to answer any questions you have. Several of us on this board have bought them and I don't remember any complaints.
Overall for this past year it was the best piece of equipment I bought. It was virtually maintenance free. Assemble, gas, crank and cut...and keep cutting. It is perfect for me.

I received my mower last night. It is a quality built machine. My T###-B### 33" wide-cut mower looks like a toy compared to it.

Gary, I received my mower, and from the time I caught a glimpse of the shiny green paint through the shipping crate, it was love at first site! The mower is just fantastic! The craftsmanship is fantastic! Hooked it up according to the instructions, and it fired right up. I highly recommend this mower! Thank you

I just got my new mower today, and I just had to write to let you know how much I enjoy mowing grass again. I'm very impressed in how well this unit is built, how easy it is to use and how it powers through tall grass. Thank you for building a Quality machine @ a fair price.

I know that this story must be familiar to you already, but I thought that I would share it with you anyway. I was shopping for commercial mowers on eBay after getting frustrated with the cost and poor performance of my lawn service. I used to cut lawns for additional income and owned a 32" Bunton mower and know how big and unwieldy even that small mower was. After being disappointed with what was available on eBay (lots of large mowers, many distant and impossible to pickup), I did a search on the internet and came across your website. I have to say, I was more than a little skeptical. The Quick 36 has an awful lot of features that don't come on mowers costing much more. All of the product reviews that I read are so glowing, I suspected that they had been written by people on your payroll.
Before I ordered the Quick 36, I also went to a local lawnmower supply store and saw what they had to offer. For only slightly less than the basic Quick 36, he could offer me a 32" B#### G###, which is a no-fills mower that doesn't even have a rear deck height adjustment(although it does have a cup holder). The owner of the store tried to convince me that it is preferable to have the front lower anyway, so as not to "overload the blades by cutting all of the grass at once". I had never heard that before and it was obviously a desperate attempt to make a sale. I took that as my queue to make a quick exit.
Anyway, I got my Quick 36 today. Roadway delivered it right in my
driveway. It was perfectly packed, and it took me more than four times as long to undo the securely built crate than it did to affix the 5 nuts/bolts for the battery terminal and handles. I am going to try it out tomorrow and then tell my landscaper I don't need him any longer.
Thanks for a great product at a fantastic price.

LAWN PRODUCT TESTING
A Hungryman mower
How could a guy not like a 13-horsepower, 294-pound, self-propelled lawn mower that cuts a 36-inch-wide swath?
The Quick 36, which has just come on the market, certainly has a lot going for it, as the Q Lawn Product Testing Team recently discovered. We have some reservations, which we'll get into later.
Manufactured in North Carolina by Better Outdoor Products, the Quick 36 is aimed at landscapers and homeowners with sizable lawns--and $1,995, which includes shipping to your nearest Roadway Express distribution terminal.
Our machine took about 20 minutes to uncrate. But we were being cautious, so that we could ship the mower back. A deliriously excited new owner could liberate his Quick 36 in five minutes. After another 15 minutes or so to attach the handlebars and battery and ground circuit wires and gas it up, we were rolling.
Our three-person Q crew tested it on an overgrown lawn, much of which hadn't been cut since last fall. On our maiden voyage, a patch of ivy and a few lilies had made the ultimate sacrifice; by our third test run, we didn't mow down anything that didn't deserve mowing.
The machine's 36-inch width, which makes for short work, was a drawback when we couldn't get through a garage door into a back yard.
The testers' final verdict, though, was mostly positive. What normally takes 45 minutes with a 6-1/2-horsepower, self-propelled mower took less than 15.
"It's quite a machine," said former West Aurora High School golf coach Arnie Verbic, who has spent enough time on fairways to be an expert on grass. "Really powerful. It'd take a little time for me to get used to it and operate it efficiently. But it'd get the job done if you've got the lawn for such a large machine."
Good point. If you have a stamp-sized yard with twisting paths among birdbaths and expensive bushes, the Quick 36 may be too much. But if you have wide-open spaces and you're not a riding mower kind of guy, the Quick 36 will do a good job for you.
And you'll have fun.
As Q lawn team member Chris Gaines pointed out, "When was the last time you heard anyone laughing while cutting grass?"

"I've had my Quick 36 for a week now and have cut 6 yards with it. Beautiful results! The mower has a great quality of cut, even in wet grass. The mower did not bog down or leave clumps on the yard. The Quick 36 did not tear up turf in the shaded areas like my riding ZTR mower does. The ease of transition from forward to reverse is great for trimming in tight spaces, but the speed and quality of cut is outstanding in larger areas as well. I am fortunate enough to live nearby Better Outdoor Products, so I got to try a Quick 36 out before buying it. It was hard for me to believe the Quick 36 could live up to the promises at this price. But believe me it has. The descriptions on the website are true. I have used other commercial walk behinds and this machine is truly a joy to operate. There is no battling gears in tight places and holding on for the jerky and lurching starts. It is a breeze to maintain and takes up less space in my trailer, truck and garage due to the design. Gary told me he had 30 years in the lawn equipment design business and with the Quick 36 we all get the benefit. It's simple. The Quick 36 gives you what you want in a walk behind mower, and it doesn't give you what you don't want. I'm looking forward to using it again this evening."

"Okay Guys- Here's the scoop on the Quick 36 by Better Outdoor Products. Before I start, I am a building contractor by trade and a very picky person when it comes to buying tools. One of my neighbors also does cutting for a lawn contractor on Saturdays... brought him over to evaluate this machine because he uses a hydro drive 48" by another Mfg. I must say he was in awe at the compactness of the Quick 36 and the quality of features- He loved it.
Now for me - It comes in a well constructed crate and shows that the company cares about the product. It took me longer to uncrate it than it took to assemble the handle bar and hook up the battery. Add some gas and you're ready. Guys, this is a well built machine. I was amazed that it was no longer than my 21" mower. It made the B****-G*** look like a toy. At first I thought that a 36" mower would be too much to handle, but this unit is so well balanced and the controls are so simple to operate that before I read the manual, I had cut my lawn and my next door neighbor's(his L***-B** is in the shop again). This machine is so agile and easy to use that I can't wait to mow again.
I can tell you to get the Gator blades with the machine and the mulch plate. This is one beautiful constructed machine. It's strong, well built, made in USA, and after talking to the company's Mfg. Foreman- they stand behind this machine. And every one of you homeowners as I am, should spend the few extra bucks. This machine can give you twenty years if you take care of it.
PS: They had the machine to me in 3 days. They deliver through Roadway. If you have access to a company with a dock, the company can deliver it. In my case I had to go to the nearest Roadway terminal (an hour drive). After using this machine, I would have driven 3 hrs to pick it up. No you can't put in the back of a station wagon. You need a pickup or a small trailer. It's awesome. The Quick 36 weighs about 280 lbs. but when your mowing you will never know it. Thanks for reading this, I hope it helps those willing to spend the extra to get something well worth it. And I don't work nor am I connected to Better Outdoor Products. Call the company and talk to someone, then place your order. HAPPY MOWING- I love the hydro drive."

"took me longer to unpack the Quick 36 from its robust shipping case than to mow my 3/4 acre of grass. A real departure from my rider. Better cut, better looking results and a pleasure to use. Took a little practice to get used to slowing down to make a 180 degree turn. The machine is responsive, engineered well and so far I am DELIGHTED."
and then a few weeks later...
"My two sons have already nicknamed our Quick 36. They call it 'the Animal'-in a very complimentary way. Why the Animal? To them, it devours the grass. When compared to our old rider and mowing at maybe 2 miles per hour (on a good day), the Quick 36 takes the 2 to 2-1/2 hours of cutting, trimming and blowing by TWO people and compresses it into 45 minutes for ONE person. Seriously, on my long list of 'shoulda, woulda, coulda', the Quick 36 is at the top of the list. Shoulda done this YEARS ago...
My lawn never looked better- I get those approving winks and nods from my wife when I'm done mowing with the Quick 36. I have not yet had a neighbor venture over to see my new toy, but I am sure that will happen when I mow on a Saturday. So far, I've been mowing during the week-it is the rainy season in Jersey and I fertilized with Scotts a few weeks ago, so I'm mowing twice per week. But with the Quick 36, this is a pleasure vs. a chore. To spend hundreds of dollars on fertilizer and not invest in a Quick 36 is foolish. As I say- Shoulda done it years ago. But, hindsight is always 20/20.
Please extend our delight to Gary and his team. It is a rare for a product to deliver upon ALL of the promises made by the manufacturer, but BOP's Quick 36 exceeded ALL of my expectations."
and then several months later...
"You guys are the best. Really.
Now do I still enjoy my mower? The other night, I cut my lawn (3/4 acre Blue Grass and Fescue) in 40 minutes. Pre-Quick 36, this was a 2 hour+ chore with the old rider. And I need the cardio exercise, so yes, I am still enjoying my mower. I am sure you know that when it is time to mow, you want to turn the key and go. No time for monkeying with adjustments or hoping for the mower to start. The Quick 36 is dependable and a dream to use. And my lawn looks 300% better than mowing with the rider. No deep ruts from the weight of the rider, no wheel marks from the infinite number of turns you have to make with the rider. The Quick 36 turns on a dime and the cutting deck leaves the lawn looking like a carpet. Why make the investment in money and time when fertilizing if you don't cut with a superior mower? After all, the mowing is the end result. A person can have great hair, but a bad haircut makes them look like a fool, right? Same with grass.
Thanks for a great mower... I feel like an extended member of your team"

"I just wanted to tell you how happy I am with my new Quick 36! I got home Friday afternoon and cut my lawn and then my neighbor's as well... I couldn't stop! It was too much fun. WOW!! You guys have done a fine job..."

"What a wonderful mower! Thanks for your extremely quick delivery!"
Jon D.-Kansas
"I am currently using this mower and am VERY pleased with the performance. It has done everything the company stated it would do. This is a commercial grade mower and for half the cost of a like kind. I hope to buy two more in the future."

"The thing (Quick 36) is simple to use... I mean simple, man. It's great."
Jeff M./LawnPros-New York
"I had a great experience dealing with the folks at Quick 36 (Better Outdoor Products). Quality of cut is great too."
Arun A./Amgroup-Atlanta
"If you're considering buying a Good, Tough, Dependable machine at a great value, that fits your needs, from a company where Professionalism and Service are a big concern, try a Quick 36! I personally have not been disappointed in any of the above."
Terry S./Preferred Lawn-Alabama
"I love it!! The performance so far is everything I had hoped for. It took about five minutes to get used to not trying to steer it like the old B####n and L###o machines that I have used. And I love the reverse. Also, because it is not belt driven, it performs great in soft and wet grass without tearing it up. And did I say I love the reverse?"
Frank P.-Pennsylvania
"The Quick 36 is so much fun to mow with... for the first time in my life, I wish I had a bigger yard!"
